In 2012 two SUI members joined the international expedition to Krubera-Vorojna in Abkhazia; the deepest cave in the world. The Speleological Union of Ireland granted financial aid to the cavers via the Expedition Fund which supports SUI members going on exploratory trips in various places around the world.
