SUI and the Irish Farmers’ Association

On Wednesday 9th January a presentation was made to the Clare Executive meeting of the IFA by Dr John Duncan of the SUI.  The aim of the presentation was to raise awareness of caving, cavers and the SUI amongst landowners in north Clare and to explain the working of the public liability (PL) insurance held by SUI members.  In effect this gives protection to landowners against claims arising from accidents which occur on their land.

The presentation was well received by the Clare IFA Executive and those landowners present were satisfied that SUI members were covered by the PL insurance which SUI membership grants.  Further contact with IFA Countryside has also been productive and no major issues with the PL cover was identified from the IFA’s standpoint.

By raising awareness of the PL cover for SUI members it is expected that future access issues may be avoided
