Grimp Day 2013

Congratulations to SUI members Dave Murtagh, John Kavanagh, David Lalor, Niall Tobin, Bernie Cummins, Derry O’Sullivan, Thelma Cantlon, Ronan O’Ceallachain and Ciara O’Hagan who attended the Grimp Day in Namur, Belgium earlier this month.  Grimp Day is an annual event where teams from a variety of backgrounds including the emergency services, military and various rope-oriented sports across Europe compete in a number of rope rescue scenarios.  The Irish caver team’s entry was financially supported by the SUI & ICRO and whilst ultimate victory eluded our cavers plenty of lessons were learned which will stand them in good stead to win next year’s event!  Well done guys!
