SUICRO T-shirts are now available. Apologies for them being late – a great Christmas gift opportunity?
Available for £10 or €12 to pick up from various members of the caving community. Please email suipublicrelations AT gmail.com if interested in buying one.
The SUI EGM will be taking place on 27th May to coincide with the Burren Marathon. The exact time and place will be 7pm at the Ailwee Caves Visitor Centre.
The EGM is a meeting that the SUI has each year for significant matters that require the approval of the general membership. Most importantly, this is used to review the financial accounts for the year.
It is very important that we get a high enough attendance to meet the legal requirement of an EGM, so if you are available we would really appreciate if you could come along.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Many thanks to UCD Caving and Potholing Club for organising the Irish Student Caving Forum, an annual event which this year took place over the Easter weekend this year, in the Kiltyclogher Holiday Centre, Co. Leitrim.
A great weekend was had by all – there is clearly a surge in interest in caving amongst the student community in Ireland. Clubs attending included UCDCPC (hosts), DCUCC, DITCC and QUBCC. Friday night saw everyone arriving early in futile hopes of getting an elusive bed. Saturday night there were talks including Éabha Lankford (ICRO Secretary) and Hugh Norton (Chairperson of the SUI), Liam Woods gave a talk about the Dachstein caving expedition and Sean the Miner gave an interesting and varied talk which included the launch of SUICRO 2017 – which will be held in Garrison, Co. Fermanagh. There was a raffle and a table quiz in aid of ICRO.
The SUI supports the running of the student caving forum financially by way of a grant to the organising club.
Tune in to Winning Streak on RTE1 tomorrow (Saturday 4th March) at 8:10pm to see a segment about the SUI, filmed in Fermanagh, and starring SUI Chairperson Hugh Norton and SUI member Angela Prior.
