REC 3 First Aid Course

This is an entry level first aid course and suitable for cavers. The course has been arranged by ICRO and has been subsidised by both SUI and ICRO. Costs are a mere 15 euro per head. Winner 'overseas' section~:Top Passage, Magharet Qasir Hafit, United Arab EmiratesThe SUI is currently planning a series of caving personal skills days for 2014.  Started in 2013 their aim is to help fill in gaps in cavers’ knowledge through a combination of classroom work and practical experience.  The skills days are open to SUI members.  Dates and details will be announced soon so watch this space!

Irish Sump Index now on Members Area of

CAVEThe SUI is pleased to announce that Volume 4 number 2 of Irish Speleology (the SUI’s exploration journal) incorporating the Irish Sump Index (ISI) is now available to view on the Members Area of the website.  Irish Sump Index was produced and published in coordination with the Cave Diving Group in 1988.  Whilst there have been a great deal of discoveries since that time the information contained is still highly relevant.  Over the last number of years copies of ISI have become increasingly few but now SUI members can consult the material at will. For those who might wish to learn more about caving or are interested in taking the first step on the SUI’s leadership training framework, this is the ideal course.

For one weekend you will learn about many aspects of caving including personal safety, equipment and the understanding of geology and conservation of the cave environment.

This course starts on Friday evening and finishes on Sunday afternoon.
